Carter at the Sun Inn has been awarded a second AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence…..
Following an anonymous visit by an AA inspector, Carter at the Sun Inn has become one of a very select group in Cumbria to receive the next grading up. At the same time, the Sun Inn has been given a 2015 Breakfast Award for the quality of our breakfast menu.
The AA’s Rosette scheme assess the quality and taste of dishes prepared in restaurants and hotels nationwide. Two Rosettes are given to “the best local restaurants” with “better consistency” and “obvious attention to the quality and selection of ingredients”.
The AA Inspector described the Sun Inn’s hospitality as “warm and genuine” and said he was “quickly able to understand why the regulars became regulars”. The food itself was praised for its clear and defined flavours, alongside strong technical skills.
Head Chef, Sam Carter, says, “We are absolutely over the moon! As a team, we’ve been working towards our second AA rosette for some time and this award is a real tribute to everyone who works day in, day out, to make sure everyone who orders food with us receives a top-notch dining experience. Our philosophy of food is to keep things simple whilst also trying to use the finest freshest ingredients and never being afraid to try new ideas. At the end of the day, it’s the taste of the food which counts!”
