It’s official! We’re one of the best dog-friendly hotels in the country

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that the Sun Inn has been listed as one of the 10 best dog-friendly hotels in Britain.

This prestigious list was put together by Country Life magazine – you can read the full article here.

Of course, it goes without saying that Charlie is delighted he was chosen as the model for their featured image of the Sun Inn!

We have always been incredibly proud to be a dog-friendly venue. If you would like to enjoy a relaxing getaway with your four-legged friend at your feet, we have a selection of standardsuperior and deluxe rooms that are available to book with your dog.

Dogs staying at the Sun Inn will receive a complimentary ‘pooch pack’ on arrival, including a towel, a bowl and a special doggy treat and there is also a dog trail map, including a short walk immediately from the door.

As well as offering dog-friendly hotel accommodation in Kirkby Lonsdale, doggy guests are welcome in our bar where they can curl up in front of a real log fire while you enjoy a tasty tipple. We also have a dog-friendly dining area where you can dine from our two AA rosette menu with your best friend at your side.

Paws for Thought – Our new charity partnership gets Charlie’s tail wagging!

We are so pleased to announce our new partnership with Kendal-based Animal Rescue Cumbria as our official charity partner for the next year.

Iain Black, who owns the Sun Inn with his wife, Jenny, said: “The decision to support Animal Rescue Cumbria as our official charity was an easy one. Jenny and I are both dog lovers ourselves and the Sun Inn itself is doggy heaven for guests who want to bring their four-legged friends with them on holiday or out for dinner, thanks to our dog-friendly guest rooms and dining area.

“Animal Rescue Cumbria does an incredible job in rescuing and re-homing dogs and cats in Cumbria, and we’re looking forward to helping them raise vital funds over the course of the next year. We’re sure all of our guests who bring their beloved pets along with them when they visit us will certainly join us in supporting this fantastic charity.”

A host of activities are being planned over the course of the next 12 months, including a sponsored dog walk, and furry guests to the Sun Inn will also be able to enjoy luxury dog biscuits specially created by the kitchen team, with a donation going straight to the charity.

Amanda Hall, general manager of Animal Rescue Cumbria, said: “We were really pleased to be contacted by Iain, it’s an ideal partnership because the Sun Inn is such a dog-friendly venue. Raising funds as a small charity is always a challenge, so any support is extremely appreciated. Our priority as an animal shelter is rescuing and re-homing dogs and cats – so far this year we have found new homes for 59 dogs and 75 cats. But of course, our work is always ongoing, so any support and fundraising will always have a huge impact on what we do.”
