Savour the perfect Chocoholics getaway
As the UK’s biggest celebration of all things chocolately, National Chocolate Week (14-20 October) is the perfect excuse to release all those happy endorphins. So, throughout October, guests at the 17th century Sun Inn in Kirkby Lonsdale can savour a host of sweet treats to tantalise the taste buds – from luxurious locally-made chocolate biscuits in all the bedrooms, to the chance to sample some indulgent chocolate wine.
Top of the menu at the Sun Inn’s AA rosette-rated restaurant for the entire month will be a very special Composition of Chocolate. Created by chef Shaun Stafford, it brings together brownie, sorbet, torte, white chocolate panna cotta, dark chocolate and orange sauce in one glorious dessert.
Chocoholics can then meander to nearby Chocolat to browse their selection of hand-made chocolates and a complementary range of wines, liqueurs and champagnes. Just a one minute walk from the five star Sun Inn, this speciality confectioners even has an ‘Enchanted Chocolate Mine’ which draws on the local connections with Peter Pan author JM Barrie and the magical fairy world he created.
